Well, that the natives discovered it first is so darn obvious that everybody realizes that the topic concerns the first discovery by Europeans, Phoenicians(or Africans, if you believe in those stories.Smile

What a patronising topic, "who was the 1st to discover America?" and apart from Penguin and a few others nobody fails to mention it was actually the Native American nations.

The subject is approached from a "Eurocentric" view, Colombus only arrived a few centuries ago, prior to this there were thousands of years of rich civillisation in the America's which is neglected.
 
Humanity had discovered the Americas long before all these recent claims.

Inuit's ancestors paddled from Siberia to Alaska, so they didn't care the strait was open for walking or not. That event happened a couple of thousand years ago only.

It's not normal to go straight from college and to a high end salary, that only happens in exceptional cases. You see where this is leading?  Those people were tragically killed in cross fire.  I can't believe how graphically their deaths were described.  Does the BBC ever report exactly how your Arab kin in Palestine and Iraq are murdered by Israeli, US and British troops?  No. Not ever.

Divide and rule.

The BBC is a state controlled latent propaganda machine, one slight nod of the head and it answers its call to duty.   I give al-Manar more credibility, at least it's on the front lines and its agenda is not hidden.

While the term "Aryan" was once used to describe the family of language spoken from India to Ireland, this term has long since fallen out of favor, given its unfortunate use by the Nazis. The modern term is "Indo European," which describes the family of language that includes Sanskrit, Celtic, Germanic, Greek, Persian, Italic (Latin, Oscan, Umbrian), Hittite, Tocharian A and B (spoken in parts of Western China), and a wide array of other minor langages spoken in ancient Europe, Iran and Anatolia.
 
The speakers of Proto-Indo European, from whence all Indo-Europeans are descended (but not necessarily their speakers!) lived at some spot in Central Europe, with various theories placing them anywhere between the Baltic Sea and the Caucasus, and with many failed attempts to identify them with an archeological culture.
 
How IndoEuropean was spread remains a mystery. 19th century theories favored a vast conquest; hence the invasion of the "Aryans." Since then a vast Ghengis Khan style invasion has lost favor as implausible, although conquest has been documented in historical times to spread Indo-European, for example the spread of Latin into Semetic-speaking North Africa through conquest and colonization.
 
Non Indo-European langauges continued on in Europe even after Indo-European became predominate, for example Basque (still spoken today), and Etruscan, which was ultimately displaced by Latin in the 1st century BC.
 
Shared Indo-European roots can account for similarities in language, culture, poetics and mythology across many geographically disparate peoples.

Very interesting. The jen belief is nearly same in all muslim countries. In Turkey, namely western Anatolia many believe jen lives dark places around the cities. Sometimes they hold people. The held ones go through a nightmarish experience untill the hold is taken off them. This is done by certain prayers by Sheikhs. Jens have their own padishahs. I have heard such stories from a Lebanese friend too.

Also some people believe jen are only harmed by human urine. :)

All,

There is this thread talking about Pan-Aryan / Aryan similarities.
Pray tell me, has there ever been any archealogical / scientific evidence of Aryan lands or even their existence.
 
The Aryan invasion theory of India too is losing ground rapidly to the new scientifc and archealogical evidences being discovered.
- Harappan remains do not point out to any invasion of any sorts.
- No hindu texts talk about invasion from Aryans of any sort.
 
The Aryan theory is slowly but steadily losing ground.
Objective comments are highly appreciated.
